In the mid-2000s, several sheriff's departments across the U.S. used a variety of high-performance vehicles for special duty — including the 2005 Ford Mustang. However, one of the most well-known sheriff departments to use a 2005 Ford Mustang was:

Texas

Some counties in Texas, particularly rural ones or highway patrol divisions, used the 2005 Ford Mustang (especially the GT variant) for speed enforcement and special operations.

Other states may have had individual counties or departments with Mustangs for promotional use, D.A.R.E. programs, or highway patrol displays, but Texas stands out for actually putting them on the road in active duty in some cases.
